Craft and Growler's concept of using growlers, the large glass containers used to port beer from the tap and one of the freshest ways to enjoy a beer, is one of Dallas’ first craft beer bars. Located just outside of the Fair Park grounds, Craft and Growler puts emphasis on local beers from the Dallas area and Texas, but you'll also find a few notable brews from farther afield.
This quirky brewery, located in Deep Ellum, was established by dedicated masterminds with a common goal: to produce quality local brews. You’ve likely seen the Dallas Blonde (an American Blonde Ale) in the beer aisle – it’s one of the brewing company’s most popular pours! TBD on when Saturday brewery tours will be available again, but in the meantime, stop by the tap room for trivia night and tacos.
In the mood for a tasty cider? Bishop Cider Co., located in the Bishop Arts District, makes hard cider on site. The Tasting Room lets you try all the latest concoctions with six ciders on tap to choose from. Order cider by the glass, by the flight, or even fill growlers to take with you. Bishop Cider also owns Cidercade in the Design District, an arcade and bar showcasing over 120 games and 24 ciders on tap.
Located in the Design District, Peticolas Brewing Company has won numerous awards for its beer, including two gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival. This Dallas-born brewery features a three-level taproom where you can enjoy more than a dozen local brews on tap in a fun and relaxing environment with family and friends. Brewery tours take place the first and third Saturdays of every month, costs $10 and come with a branded pint and three beer tokens!
An unpretentious brewery in the Cedars District created by three friends who began brewing in their garage, Four Corners Brewing Co. features home brews with local flavor and Saturday tours. Their taproom, open four days a week, often features events such as Loteria, trivia nights, live music performances and chef takeovers.
This locally owned, East Dallas newcomer offers an extensive menu of both local and national indie brews that pair nicely with their food menu – the tater kegs and Texas Heat flatbread are crowd-pleasing options. And walking off the beers is easy – there’s an entrance to the White Rock Lake Trail just off the alehouse’s parking area.
The Texas Ale Project is a modern brewery that creates a variety of craft beers, with a taproom, beer garden, tours and live music and events. It’s the first brewery to be built from the ground up in the city of Dallas since the late 1800s. Find it in the Design District.
Tucked away in far northeast Dallas, Oak Highlands has all the makings of a neighborhood brewery. The outdoor space includes games like cornhole, ping pong tables and foosball set ups, making it a good afternoon outing for everyone in your corner, kids and pups included. The tap room opens on Wednesdays each week.
This state-of-the-art brewery is located on the edge of the Design District, offering award-winning craft beer. Be sure to try their seasonal brews like the Funnel Cake Ale during State Fair of Texas season, and check out any of their events like live music and trivia nights, brewery tours and more.
Also in East Dallas, this small batch brewery focuses on experimental flavors and often limit their creations to single kegs, which means there’s always new ones to try. They have 40 taps to choose from, and also offer flights to make tastings that much easier.
This homegrown brand takes pride in their neighborhood, partnering with local nonprofits to support their missions. Along with four signature offerings, the brewery also offers a variety of specialty beers. Visit their taproom in the historical Tyler Station Wednesday-Sunday and leave time to hang in the beer garden after your first pour.
Pegasus City calls themselves small and mighty, but there’s nothing small about the tastes in their six offerings. Seasonal rotations keep beer enthusiasts coming back, along with $4 pints Wednesday and Thursday. Find them in the Design District and in their newly open second location in Downtown Dallas near the AT&T Discovery District.
