Earthquake that Shook the World
On April 25th of 2015, 7.9 magnitude of powerful earthquake struck in between the capital city, Kathmandu, and Pokhara. The quake has caused massive destruction of buildings, infrastructures, historical landmarks, and much more. As of this morning, death toll has reached more than 4,000, more than 7,000 injured, and unknown people are buried in the wreckage of their own home.
The rescue effort has mostly been progressing mostly in the Kathmandu city arena, but rescuers are struggling to reach remote Nepal villages. It has come to know that some of the village nearby where the epicenter erupted has flattened to rubbles. We are yet to hear the complete account on the scale of damages in the near-total destructed villages.
An estimated 6 million people have lost their home. Hospitals are desperately looking for medical supplies. UNICEF has said that nearly 1 million Nepalese children urgently need assistance.Soon, there will be scarcity of clean water, food, and shelter.
Due to the feeble economics of the Nepal Government, Government alone will not be able to provide adequate resources and assistance to the victim. Without the help of the world, Nepal will not be able to bounce back again. PCD DALLAS has initiated a fundraising for the relief of the victim and the victim’s family. And currently me, Pasang Lama, is delegating the fund-raise. A team will be travelling to Nepal to distribute energy rich dry foods, water purifiers, tents and other necessary survival kit to the victims for the immediate relief.
Please, kindly make your donations toward the victim. Your contributions will be highly appreciated. Please, give generously as a kind act of humanity. This is the time where the resourceful human should come together and look out for the affected and injured people.
If you are willing to go to Nepal and volunteer, please, contact me.
