A Day in Dallas: Tashara Parker
The TV anchor dishes on her favorite spots in the city.
When you think what your perfect day is like, what does it include? Good food? Quality time with friends? This is something we asked Tashara Parker, traffic anchor and journalist for WFAA- Dallas' local ABC affiliate. The Houston native has been in Big D since November, and despite the short amount of time she's discovered a handful of places that make her feel at home. Here's a look at Tashara's perfect day in Dallas!
Morning: A normal weekday for Tashara consists of being up and at it well before the sun rises. So on the weekends, if she doesn't have an event or interview, getting extra rest is key. "A perfect morning is really just being able to chill until about nine or ten, which is really late for me," Parker said. "Maybe meet up with some friends and go grab brunch. "I've been to Ellen's and Bread Winners, two spots I really, really like for brunch. So good! I don't get to do that often."
Afternoon: Contrary to her colorful, never-ending wardrobe displayed while reporting, spending the day shopping isn't really Parker's thing. "I don't like walking around malls," Parker explains. "That's never been my area. I like to spend time outside. I love nature." If you follow Parker on social media, you'll notice she's an avid runner. "The Trinity Skyline Trail is a nice area to go to really just enjoy the outdoors."
Evening: For Parker, once the sun goes down, the fun goes down. One main source of entertainment she looks for in the evening is music. So the Deep Ellum/Fair Park area is a go-to. "Sandaga 813 is a great spot," Parker said. "I always have a good time. There's a patio in the back where they sell barbecue. I've also been to the rooftop of The Statler downtown. Those are my two main spots." Parker explains the uptick of focus on Black owned-businesses has shed light on a lot of Dallas spots she never knew of – including restaurants like Invasion, Val's Cheesecakes, and The Island Spot.
