Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Big D's famed Margarita Mile.
What is the Margarita Mile?
The Margarita Mile is a self-guided tour of the best margaritas throughout Dallas served at some of the most delicious restaurants in the city. While most are close to the city center, we're happy to provide stops in some of Dallas' most popular neighborhood beyond Downtown.
How long is the Margarita Mile?
Everything is bigger in Texas and that includes the Margarita Mile. While most restaurants are located within five miles of each other close to downtown, there are two stops on the tour way out at DFW International Airport for any airborne visitors wishing to kick off or wrap up their Dallas adventure with a refreshing drink.
How did Dallas become the Official Home of the Frozen Margarita?
It's all thanks to Mariano Martinez. In 1971, Mariano's Hacienda couldn't keep up with the demand for their delicious margaritas. The consistency wasn't very, well, consistent. So Mariano and a friend, Frank Adams, tinkered with an old soft-serve ice cream machine and invented the world's first frozen margarita machine. The rest is delicious history.
How do I track my progress on the Margarita Mile?
To track your progress, just visit the Margarita Mile landing page and click 'Get Started' to sign up. No app is required. You'll get a text and email giving you access to the site where you can quickly check in whenever you visit a new stop on the tour.
What prizes can I win?
Check in at three restaurants and you'll earn the title of Rita Rookie and receive a Margarita Mile sticker. Check in at ten restaurants and you'll be upgraded to Marg MVP. That comes with a limited-edition Margarita Mile t-shirt sent by mail. Check in at 20 restaurants and you'll achieve legendary status as a Rita Rockstar. Only the most dedicated Margarita Milers earn this title. And as a reward, you'll be entered to win the Dallas Prize Package – a two-night stay in Dallas with passes to local attractions and more.
